It was the first such talks since June 14th, when the DPRK and RoK delegations held the first-grade military talks in over a decade, agreeing to restore military hotlines along the eastern and western corridors across the inter-Korea border.

The RoK delegation was led by Major General Kim Do-gyun and the DPRK side was headed by Lieutenant General An Ik-san.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the disarmament of the Joint Security Area (JSA) inside the Panmunjom and the withdrawal of troops and equipment from guard posts inside the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates the two countries.

The meeting also discussed the joint excavation of the remains of US soldiers who were killed during the Korean War.

After their first summit on April 27th in Panmunjom, RoK President Moon Jae-in and top DPRK leader Kim Jong-un agreed to stop all hostile acts near the border area to reduce military tensions./.
