US Congressional delegation wraps up visit to Cuba

The Cuban Foreign Ministry's new director for US affairs Carlos Fernandez de Cossio has received a US Congressional delegation on a three-day visit to Cuba.

The delegation, led by Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy, also included Senators Ron Wyden and Gary Peters, and representatives Jim McGovern, Kathy Castor and Susan Davis.

The meeting took place behind closed doors in a protocol room of the Palace of the Revolution. Mr. Bruno Rodriguez, the Cuban Foreign Minister, was also present.

During the meeting, they discussed “matters of interest to both countries,” according to the official note read on state television that offered images of the meeting.

Senator Patrick Leahy's office said subjects which were discussed during the visit included also bilateral cooperation in maritime security, search-and-rescue, narcotics, human trafficking and immigration.

The Congressional delegation held a press conference on the morning of February 21st, before returning to Washington./.
