The US delegation is led by White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Joe Hagin, while Kim Chang Son, the DPRK leader's chief of staff, heads Pyongyang's delegation.

The officials from both sides were reportedly to discuss the security and protocol issues for the potential summit between the U.S. and the DPRK leaders, and make decisions on the arrangements for the summit.

The planned talks in Singapore are running in parallel with separate consultations at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjom.

At Panmunjom, the two sides have reportedly been discussing denuclearization methods and timelines, as well as ways to ensure the reclusive state's regime security.

Earlier, President Trump accepted an invitation from the DPRK’s leader to hold an unprecedented Summit meeting to reach an agreement on nuclear disarmament.

Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Moon Jae-in said this meeting would be a "historical milestone" that will put the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula "really on track"./.
