US - DPRK Summit back on track

The Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Moon Jae-in on May 27th said the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s leader Kim Jong-un reiterated his commitment to the “denuclearization of the Korean peninsula” and to a meeting with US President Donald Trump on June 12th.

The RoK’s President made the announcement a day after his secret meeting with leader Kim Jong-un at the truce village of Panmunjom. It was the second inter-Korean Summit in a month.

In his address, President Moon Jae-in said Mr. Kim had “once again made clear his will for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula” and “expressed his willingness to end the history of war and confrontation, and cooperate for peace and prosperity through a successful Summit with the US.”

Mr. Moon Jae-in said both he and Mr. Kim had “agreed the June 12th US - DPRK Summit must be successfully held.”

Leader Kim Jong-un hopes meeting with the US President will “end history of confrontation,” President Moon Jae-in said.

A team will travel to Singapore to prepare for this Summit, the White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced on May 27th./.
