Mr. Moon Chung-in, Special Adviser for unification, foreign and security affairs to the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s President Moon Jae-in, has remarked that US President Donald Trump’s visits to Japan in May and June may lead to possible talks between the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"Maybe when Trump visits Japan in May and June, he will also visit the Republic of Korea, and if so, I think, talks between the US and the DPRK will be also possible," he said during an event on inter-Korean ties in Seoul.

President Trump is scheduled to make a state visit to Japan next month, which would make him the first state guest to meet the country's new emperor. He plans to return in June for the Group of 20 summit in Osaka.

During his visit, President Donald Trump is expected to become the first foreign dignitary to meet with the emperor after his ascension to the throne in May.

Accordingly, in Tokyo, Mr. Trump plans to greet Crown Prince Naruhito, who will become emperor on May 1st, a day after the abdication of his father, Emperor Akihito.

President Trump is also slated to visit the East Asian nation for the G-20 summit in Osaka in June.

US President Donald Trump and DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un have met twice, in Hanoi in February 2019 and in Singapore in June 2018./.
