US envoy for DPRK to attend nuclear conference

Stephen Biegun, the US special envoy for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), will attend the 2019 Carnegie International Nuclear Policy Conference in Washington in March 11th - 12th.

As scheduled, Mr. Stephen Biegun will deliver an important address at the event.

The event is expected to draw the attention of over 800 experts and officials from more than 45 countries and international organizations who will debate the most pressing challenges in nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, disarmament, deterrence, energy and security.

On March 5th, he gave a closed briefing to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and DPRK's leader Kim Jong-un.

Earlier, Mr. Stephen Biegun led a delegation of six U.S. officials to Hanoi, Vietnam, to prepare for the 2nd summit between President Donald Trump and leader Kim Jong-un on February 27th - 28th.

Mr Biegun previously served as Vice President of International Governmental Affairs for the Ford Motor Company and in government roles as a staffer on the National Security Council as well as National Security Adviser to Senator Bill Frist.

On August 23rd, 2018, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appointed him to serve as the US special Representative for the DPRK, directing US policy in regard to the DPRK on behalf of the Trump administration./.
