US President and DPRK’s leader arrive in Singapore for historic Summit

US President Donald Trump has arrived in Singapore in preparation for meeting with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s Kim Jong-un.

Mr. Trump arrived on Air Force One at Singapore's Paya Lebar Air Base at 20h21 local time, where he was greeted by Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. 

The US President travelled from Canada, where he attended a meeting of the Group of Seven Nations (G7).

DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un arrived at Singapore's commercial airport on an Air China Boeing 747 just over five hours earlier.

At a meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Kim said via a translator: “The entire world is watching the historic summit between the DPRK and the United States of America, and thanks to your sincere efforts ... we were able to complete the preparations for the historic Summit.”

Mr Trump was set to meet with Mr Lee on June 11th.

As scheduled, the US - DPRK Summit will be set at the Capella Hotel in Singapore’s Sentosa island at 09h00 on June 12th (08h00 Hanoi time)

The 5-star Capella Hotel, promises the tranquility of Sentosa Island amid the bustle of the cosmopolitan city-state, according to the hotel’s website.

Earlier, Singapore’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on May 10th that it would host the historic meeting.

"We hope this meeting will advance prospects for peace in the Korean Peninsula," Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement./.
