"We have agreed the U.S.- DPRK summit must succeed, not only for peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula, but those of the entire world," said Mr. Chung Eui-yong.

"And we held in-depth discussions on various ways and issues to realize this goal and agreed to continue discussing frequently in the future," the top security adviser to RoK President Moon Jae-in said after arriving at Seoul's Incheon International Airport.

Earlier, Mr. Chung Eui-yong met with White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster and Japan's National Security Adviser Shotaro Yachi in San Francisco last weekend.

At the meeting, they discussed the upcoming talks with the DPRK on “permanent” denuclearization.

“The three national security advisers committed to avoiding mistakes of the past and to continue coordinating closely in the weeks ahead,” the White House said.

US President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to meet with DPRK leader Kim Jong-un for the first time, probably in May. RoK President Moon Jae-in also plans to hold a meeting with Mr. Kim in late April./.
