US Secretary Mike Pompeo to visit three Southeast Asian nations

US Department of State has announced Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would visit Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia from August 1st - 5th to discuss bilateral ties and regional issues with the three countries.

In Kuala Lumpur, August 2nd - 3rd, the Secretary will meet senior Malaysian officials to discuss strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership and advancing common security and economic interests based on strongly shared democratic values.

In Singapore, Pompeo will participate in the annual ASEAN-centered ministerial meetings on August 3rd - 4th to boost the US regional policy.

In Jakarta, on August 4th-5th, the Secretary’s visit will reinforce the US - Indonesia Strategic Partnership as the countries look ahead to celebrating 70 years of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2019.

Among his topics of discussion with leaders of the region will be “the final, fully verified denuclearization of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, upholding the rule‎s-based order in the East Sea and countering terrorism,” according to spokesperson of the Department of State Heather Nauert./.
