The two called after the two Koreas agreed to hold their 3rd Summit in Pyongyang in September.

“They discussed DPRK denuclearization efforts and the need to maintain pressure until we achieve the final, fully verified denuclearization of the DPRK as agreed by Chairman Kim. Secretary Pompeo and Foreign Minister Kang vowed to maintain close coordination and communication, and they affirmed the enduring strength of the US - RoK Alliance”, spokesperson for the US Department of State Heather Nauert said.

The decision on the 3rd Summit was made during the high-level talks at the border village of Panmunjom on August 13th.

The two leaders met in April and May at the border truce village of Panmunjom, within the demilitarized zone that separates the two countries, and agreed that the next summit would be held in the DPRK capital in autumn.

A RoK delegation led by Minister of Unification Cho Myoung-gyon began the latest round of talks with counterparts led by Ri Son Gwon, chairman of the DPRK’s reunification committee.

"As the Pyongyang summit of the leaders of the DPRK and RoK is being pursued, I believe that we can give the concrete answers to problems that the people hope and wish for," Ri said during the talks, according to RoK's Unification Ministry./.
