US President Donald Trump has nominated White House Chief of Staff John Kelly as Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Mr. John Kelly was appointed Secretary of Homeland Security on January 20th, 2017, by President Trump. On July 28th, 2017, he was appointed to replace Reince Priebus as White House Chief of Staff, taking office on July 31st, 2017, shortly after Mr. Priebus had officially left his post.
As Chief of Staff, Mr. Kelly is considered to be one of the most hardline conservative members of the administration on the issue of immigration, along with Senior Advisor Stephen Miller.
“I spend more time with the President than anyone else and we have an incredibly candid and strong relationship,” Mr. Kelly said in a statement.
White House officials said the President intends to take some time finding the right person to lead the sprawling federal agency with 360,000 employees serving nine million veterans.
President Trump's previous pick for the position, White House physician Ronny Jackson, withdrew his nomination for the position last week./.
