President Donald Trump has picked Alexander Acosta to replace Mr. Andy Puzder as his choice for Secretary of Labour.

Acosta served as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division under President George W. Bush, selected by the President in August 2003. Acosta was a member of the National Labour Relations Board and also served as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division. Most recently, he was the dean of Florida International University College of Law.

“I thank the President and his staff for their confidence in me, and I am eager to work tirelessly on behalf of the American worker,” Acosta said in a statement.

“He's going to be a tremendous Secretary of Labour," Trump told reporters in the East Room of the White House, noting that Acosta had been confirmed by the Senate for three previous jobs./.
