Rex Tillerson visits Turkey

On March 30th, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was getting on a plane for his first official trip to Turkey.

Tillerson is scheduled to meet Turkey’s President R. Tayip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavosoglu. In a brief statement, Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim highlighted what he described as joint Turkish and US efforts to fight against the Islamic State.
Turkey-US delegations, headed by Foreign Minister Cavusoglu and Secretary Tillerson, discussed all aspects of Turkey-US relations and current regional and international issues.
Minister Cavusoglu and Secretary of State Tillerson held a joint press conference and responded to questions on the visit and the current agenda.
Mr. Rex Tillerson, the most senior US official to visit Turkey since President Trump took office in January, is seeking to turn around recently rocky relations between the NATO allies./.
