Rick Perry confirmed as US Energy Secretary

On March 2nd, the US Senate confirmed former Texas governor Rick Perry as the Secretary of Energy by a vote of 62 to 37.

Perry was governor of Texas from 2000 to 2015, making him the longest-serving governor of the oil-producing state in its history.

He has said he would seek to develop American energy in all forms, from oil, gas and nuclear power, to renewable sources such as wind and solar power.

Earlier, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson was confirmed as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development by a vote of 58-41.

Carson and Perry are the 17th and 18th of Trump's 22 Cabinet and Cabinet-level nominations to win Senate approval./.
