The Senate voted 60 to 38 to approve his nomination. The Cuban-American from Miami will be the only Latino in Trump’s Cabinet. His confirmation comes just as Trump is closing in on his first 100 days in office.

Acosta wasn't Trump's first choice for the job. Former fast food CEO Andrew Puzder withdrew his name from consideration last month, on the eve of his confirmation vote.

Acosta served as assistant attorney general for civil rights during President George W. Bush's administration. He was also on the National Labor Relations Board from 2002-2003 and was a US attorney for the southern district of Florida. Prior to his confirmation, Acosta had been dean of Florida International University Law School.

Acosta is expected to be sworn on April 28th./.
