He will meet senior officials to discuss the Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s recent missile tests and US economic and security interests in the region.

Mr. Tillerson will arrive in Japan on March 15th, continue on to the RoK on March 17th, and then visit China on March 18th and 19th.

In Japan, Mr Tillerson will have talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, who watched Pyongyang's latest missile tests with alarm.

In the RoK, Tillerson is scheduled to hold talks with Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se about how to deal with DPRK’s nuclear and missile threats, as well as to further strengthen the alliance between the two countries.

In China, Mr. Tillerson plans to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and possibly also with President Xi Jimping.

"In each country, Secretary Tillerson will meet with senior officials to discuss bilateral and multilateral issues, including strategic coordination to address the advancing nuclear and missile threat from the DPRK, and reaffirm the Administration's commitment to further broaden and enhance US economic and security interests in the Asia-Pacific region,” spokesman Mark Toner said./.
