Ukraine and Belarus pledge to bolster friendly ties

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko have pledged to promote friendly ties between the two countries at a meeting.

The Presidents discussed a wide range of issues on bilateral cooperation, the press service of the Head of State reported.

Petro Poroshenko noted that Ukraine and Belarus reached pretty good results in economic cooperation. “Dynamics of growth of mutual trade turnover in 2016 demonstrates dramatic improvement of the economic situation in Ukraine. And dynamics of the first two months of this year is even more promising,” the President said at the joint press conference.

President Poroshenko emphasized that Ukraine highly appreciates friendship and cooperation with Belarus and Mr. Lukashenko stressed that Belarus is willing to work with Ukraine to strengthen bilateral collaboration and promote ties between the two nations.

Earlier, the two Presidents have toured the site of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident, marking the 31st anniversary of the disaster./.
