US House of Representatives approves Harvey emergency relief

The US House of Representatives on September 6th approved nearly USD8 billion in aid funding to the victims of hurricane Harvey.

The bill was approved in a 419-3 vote, with three Republicans voting against the proposal.

The measure, which provides USD7.4 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and USD450 million for the Small Business Administration, will now go to the Senate. Barring unexpected setbacks, the aid measure is expected to be sent to the White House by the end of the week.

“In the wake of this disaster, our nation has come together,” said House Majority leader Kevin McCarthy.

“We are with you and we will be with you until we are even stronger than before,” he added, addressing Texas flood victims./.
