US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to visit DPRK

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will leave Washington for a trip to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), US National Security Advisor John Bolston said on August 19th.

"I think the timing will be announced at an appropriate point by the State Department," Mr. Bolston said, adding that the US sides expects Pompeo to meet with the DPRK's top leader Kim Jong-un.

It will be Pomper’s 4th visit to the DPRK since he assumed the current office.

Earlier, the Secretary of State visited the DPRK in April, May and July to seek agreement on a plan for the country’s denuclearization.

The US - DPRK Summit took place at the Capella Hotel in Singapore’s Sentosa island on June 12th.

At the event, the DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump agreed to “work toward denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.”/.
