US Secretary of State to visit Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia

As scheduled, Mr. Tillerson will participate in a US-ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting and a Lower Mekong Initiative Ministerial Meeting on August 6th, as well as a Foreign Ministerial Meeting of the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum on August 7th in Manila, the Philippines.

In Thailand, the Secretary of State will pay respects to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and engage Thai officials on the enduring US -Thailand partnership and regional issues.

While in Malaysia, Mr. Rex Tillerson will meet with officials to discuss strengthening cooperation on a range of issues in the 60th year of US - Malaysia bilateral relations.

“Secretary Tillerson’s travel reaffirms the Administration’s commitment to further broaden and enhance US economic and security interests in the Asia - Pacific region,” the State Department said./.
