Bac Kan identifies 4 key programs to boost rapid and sustainable development

Party building, administrative reform, development of agricultural and forestry production, and increased investment in tourism and industry as spearhead sectors are among the key programs that the Bac Kan provincial Party Committee has identified to focus its leadership on in the next 5 years.

The key programs were put forth during its 12th provincial Party Congress term 2020-2025 which was held from October 26-28. 

During the congress, Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member and Head of Ho Chi Minh city’s delegation of National Assembly deputies, said that over the past 5 years, Bac Kan had reported comprehensive development, making an important premise for more rapid and sustainable development in the years to come.

Praising its achievements, the Politburo member suggested that the province should more efficiently exploit the potential and advantages in land; better the management, protection and development of forests; create breakthrough development in agricultural and forestry production by facilitating the operation of collectives and increasing links with regional provinces.

“The province should continue to care for the material and spiritual lives of people, and give adequate education and healthcare to local residents, while bettering support for revolutionary contributors,” he noted. 

Report at the congress indicated that in the 2015-2020 period, the province had an economic growth rate of 5.3%, with the average income per capita of VND40 million, an increase of VND12.1 million compared to 2015. Positive results have been seen in agricultural, forestry and fisheries production, with the development of some key fruit products which bring high economic value. Over 32,700 hectares of forests have been planted while rural infrastructure has also been improved, with 23 communes having been recognized to meet the standard of new style rural areas. The poverty rate has been reduced by 2.46% per year./.
