Dak Lak to be built into Central Highlands’ centre

The Dak Lak 17th provincial Party Congress term 2020-2025 which opened on October 14 set the target to build the province into a centre of the Central Highlands region by 2025.

Attending the congress, Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the efforts made by the province in the 2015-2020 period. 

He urged the congress to focus on analyzing reasons for weaknesses in economic development, links between sectors in value chains and application of high technologies, attraction of investment, administrative reform and building of Party and authority, thus drawing lessons and solutions for the next term. 

Besides the target of becoming a center of the Central Highlands province, he requested the province to exploit all advantages to become the centre of the Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia development triangle, as well as of the Mekong sub-region. 

“Priority should be given to Buon Ma Thuot city to make it become an urban center of the Central Highlands region and a financial, service and hi-tech center,” he said. 

Noting solutions for the next term, he said the province should apply well the 4th industrial revolution; attract more domestic and foreign investment into prioritized sectors such as energy industry, processing industry, hi-tech agriculture, finance, tourism and services; strictly combine economic development with cultural, educational and training development; and continuously raise people’s material and spiritual lives.

In the previous term, Dak Lak province reported an average GRDP growth rate of 8.75% per year./.
