So said Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member and NA Chairwoman, during a meeting to review the work of the NA Office in 2020 and define the work for 2021, on January 5.

According to NA Chairwoman Ngan, 2020 marked a year of NA effective operation. “The NA enacted a large number of laws and resolutions; discussed many important contents and policies, meeting urgent requirements for life,” she said.

“Along with that, Vietnam successfully completed its responsibility as AIPA President 2020 with the highlight of the success of the 41st AIPA General Assembly; ASEAN Presidency 2020 and UN Security Council non-permanent membership,” she went on to say. “Despite the pandemics and natural disasters, our country's external relations activities were successfully organized in diverse, flexible and creative forms, typically the activities of the AIPA President year.”

She also noted that the NA had made important contributions with enthusiasm to increase the quality of the draft documents to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress; proactively summarized the operation of the 14th NA and prepared for the election of deputies to the 15th NA and People’s Councils at all levels, term 2021-2026.

Praising the NA Office’s contributions to the joint achievements, she clarified that 2021 would be a transitional year to a new tenure, so the NA Office would undertake important tasks with higher requirements and targets in the context that the country continues to face many difficulties and challenges.

Many major events will be held throughout the year, including the 13th National Party Congress slated for January 25, and the election of deputies to the NA and People’s Councils at all levels on May 23. The 15th NA will also elect and approve high-ranking positions in the State apparatus and decide five-year plans for the period from 2021 to 2026.

She requested the NA Office to advise and serve the National Election Council and the NA Standing Committee in preparing and successfully organizing the election of deputies to the 15th NA and People’s Councils at all levels, term 2021-2026, ensuring this great political event is conducted democratically, legally, safely and economically.

She also asked the NA Office to enhance the quality of its consultation and coordination to serve its operations, and strengthen the application of information technology to complete the building of e-parliament, as well as e-office./.
