He made the statement during a ceremony presided by State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on July 28 to announce and hand over the State leader’s appointment decisions to members of the Government for the 2021-2026 term.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Government is willing to devote itself to serving the Fatherland and the people, respect the law, comply with the functions, tasks and power prescribed by the Constitution and law, and obey the leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat, as well as the Party General Secretary and senior leaders of the Party and State.

“The Government will continue to inherit and promote the achievements of the Government over the past tenures, especially the 14th tenure, which has made important contributions to the national building and safeguarding cause,” he added.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government has identified two key tasks that are effective pandemic prevention and implementation of the country’s socio-economic development targets, as well as tasks approved by the National Assembly, ensuring social security and safety for people and defence security and international integration.

Affirming that COVID-19 prevention is considered the most important and urgent work at present, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has said the Government will join the political system and the people to together curb the spread of the pandemic by strictly implementing regulations on preventive measures, and especially implementing the vaccine strategy by buying the largest amount of vaccines possible, developing domestic production and freely, promptly and effectively administering them to people.

The PM asked Government members to uphold their sense of responsibility before the Party, nation and people, and fulfill their assigned tasks. “Vietnam tries to achieve the rate of vaccination to create herd immunity by early 2022, and not miss a beat compared to other countries in the post-pandemic economic recovery,” he said.

Confirming that the Government extremely understands, sympathizes and shares with the spiritual and material difficulties that people have to face over the past year due to COVID-19, he expressed his hope that the people will unite in the pandemic prevention effort. “We have the right to hope and believe that normal life will soon return,” he went on to say.

In the current difficult circumstances, the Prime Minister suggested that Government members pay attention to solving all problems related to people's lives./.
