PCC Secretariat member gives Tet presents to poor workers and households

(CPV) – On January 18, the working delegation of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat led by Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC Commission on Popularization and Education, visited and gave presents to workers of the Long Giang Industrial Park, poor households, and disadvantaged families with people infected with COVID-19 in Tien Giang Province.

The Long Giang Industrial Park has a scale of 600 hectares, of which 540 hectares are for industrial land. Currently, there are 48 investment projects with a total investment of USD1.6 billion, filling 90% of the total area, of which 42 businesses are operating, attracting 25,000 workers. Businesses investing and doing business here have potential, large scale to attract labor, advanced technology, and are friendly to the environment.

Over the years, businesses in the Long Giang Industrial Park have mobilized about VND24.5 billion to support poor workers and other humanitarian and social charity activities.

At the Long Giang Industrial Park, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia noted that under the difficult circumstances, laborers have made great efforts to control the pandemic, overcome difficulties, stabilize production, and contribute to completing the goals and tasks set out in the socio-economic development of Tien Giang Province in particular and of the whole country in general.

He emphasized that the Party and State's consistent guidelines and policies are to connect pandemic prevention and control with ensuring social security, restoring and developing socio-economic development while transitioning to the period of safe and flexible adaptation and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, as well as the period of 2021 - 2025. In the near future, it is to take care of Tet for workers, poor households, and families with people infected with COVID- 19 who live in extremely difficult circumstances, leaving no one behind.

To encourage workers and laborers in difficult circumstances to celebrate Tet and welcome the Lunar New Year, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia gave 200 gifts to workers in the industrial park.

On the same day, he visited and gave gifts to poor households and families with COVID-19 patients in My Tho City, Go Cong Dong District and Go Cong Tay District.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, every lunar New Year, the Party and the State always pay special attention to policy families, families with meritorious services, people in difficult circumstances, and workers and laborers throughout the country.

He said that in 2021, the country successfully held the 13th National Party Congress; and the election of deputies to the People's Councils at all levels, term 2021-2026. However, the country also faced extremely difficult challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which has greatly affected the people's life, and socio-economic development. “Under the leadership of the Party, the drastic direction of the Government and the joint efforts and consensus of the people, up to now, the pandemic has been basically controlled and many localities, including Tien Giang Province, have switched to safe adaptation,” he said.

He added he hoped that Tien Giang’s localities would continue to promote and step up the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic; implement solutions to promote socio-economic development; and focus on building traffic infrastructure, creating favorable conditions to attract investors.

He presented 450 gifts to 450 poor households and extremely disadvantaged families with people infected with COVID-19 in My Tho City, Go Cong Dong District and Go Cong Tay District, with a total value of VND540 million./.
