PM attends Hanoi’s Patriotic Emulation Congress

Delivering a report reviewing the city’s emulation and commendation movement during the 2015-2020 period, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh highlighted its achievements, which he said, have made important contributions to fulfilling socio-political, economic, national defence-security tasks assigned to the city.

Over the past five years, tens of thousands of local collectives and individuals have been honoured by the Party, State, Prime Minister and municipal People’s Committee with the titles of heroic Vietnamese mothers, labour heroes, national emulation soldiers and certificates of merit. As many as 59 outstanding individuals were recognised as outstanding citizens of the city for 2015-2019.

Anh stressed that the Party Organisation, administration and people of Hanoi will continue staying united, overcoming challenges to accomplish socio-political, economic and cultural tasks for 2020-2025 and the subsequent years, thus deserving its tradition as a City for Peace.

Addressing the event, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also Chairman of the Central Council for Emulation and Commendation, asked Hanoi to continue renewing its emulation and commendation affairs in order to ensure openness, transparency and democracy.

He expressed his belief that following the congress, the municipal authorities, armed forces and people will effectively carry out emulation campaigns and movements to build a modern and civilised city.

Later, Anh called on local departments, agencies, businesspeople, officials, cadres, workers and people from walks of life to respond to the city’s patriotic emulation movements, contributing to fulfilling political tasks for 2020-2025.

On the occasion, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces to the city’s volunteer young people force.

Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education Vo Van Thuong and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man granted Labour Orders to outstanding collectives for the 2015-2020 period.

Ten outstanding citizens of the city in 2020 were also honoured. A number of collectives and individuals also received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee for their achievements in emulation movements for 2015-2020.

Earlier, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the city’s leaders visited an exhibition on Hanoi’s patriotic emulation movements for the 2015-2020 period./.
