PM launches campaign on Covid-19 prevention

(CPV) - On behalf of Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on all the people, comrades and soldiers nationwide to do their utmost and implement more drastic measures to control the Covid-19 epidemic.

He made the statement on March 17th during the launching ceremony calling on the whole people to support the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, receiving the support of enterprises, held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF).

In his speech, VFF President Tran Thanh Man called on domestic and foreign agencies, units, organizations and individuals as well as overseas Vietnamese to actively participate in support of COVID-19 prevention.

“Your assistance will be promptly sent to agencies and individuals who are directly engaged in the epidemic prevention, treatment of patients, isolated areas and the patients in need,” he said.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Vietnam was facing the epidemic that had been reported globally, adding that over the past 2 months, the whole Party, army and people had been united and involved in the epidemic prevention on the largest scale ever.

Confirming that the epidemic will develop more complexly in the upcoming time with much greater number of infections and fatalities, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said it will leave deeper impact on all countries in the world.

In Vietnam, since the 17th case was reported, the country officially entered the second phase of the fight against Covid-19. Vietnam has reported 61 cases of infections, with 16 cases having been cured and and no fatalities having been reported. “This result is brought about by the prompt action of the whole political system; the consensus of the entire Party, army and people; the leadership and direction of the Secretariat, Government, Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee on the epidemic prevention, the agencies, and heads of Party committees and authorities; and assistance of each citizen,” said PM Phuc.

According to the PM, the results show that Vietnam is fully capable of controlling the epidemic.

“Our Party and State always put people’s health top priority in its leadership,” he stressed.

Praising the efforts of agencies in the political system, the VFF, the National Steering Committee on the epidemic prevention, Party organizations, authorities, people, health workers, military and public security forces, and businesses, he expressed his belief that Vietnam will win in the fight against the epidemic. “Vietnam will carry out all possible measures and initiatives to protect people’s health, thus resuming daily pace of life and realising socio-economic development targets,” he went on to say.

During the ceremony, groups and businesses donated cash and exhibits worth VND235 billion to the fight against Covid-19.

Statistics from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health showed that as of 07h00 on March 17th, the epidemic infected 182,330 people in the world, causing 6,665 fatalities./.
