The official dispatch sent to the Minister of Health, Minister of Education and Training, Heads of provincial-level steering committees on COVID-19 prevention and control, and Chairpersons of the Provincial and City People’s Committee, noted the Prime Minister’s request in the context of the more complicated developments of the pandemic in Hanoi and some other localities, especially risks of new outbreaks caused by the Omicron variant, while the Lunar New Year holiday - the country’s biggest traditional festival - is nearing.

Accordingly, he requested provinces and cities to seriously and strictly carry out preventive measures against the pandemic in accordance with the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, especially the Ministry of Health’s 5K rules – “Khau trang” (face masks), “Khu khuan” (disinfection), “Khoang cach” (distancing), “Khong tu tap” (no gatherings), and “Khai bao y te” (health declarations). They have to stay vigilant and increase home treatment for patients with mild or no symptoms.

Heads of the provincial-level anti-pandemic steering committees and People’s Committees hold the responsibility for further accelerating the vaccination campaign, ensuring safety, science and effectiveness according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the goals set by the Government

Under the dispatch, the Ministry of Health is responsible for ensuring sufficient COVID-19 medicine and vaccines, boosting the domestic vaccine production, considering international experience and consulting experts about the administration of booster shots, and ramping up inspection and guidance to combat corruption, wastefulness, and group interest in the pandemic fight.

It was also asked to work with the Ministry of Education and Training and relevant agencies to consider the import of COVID-19 vaccine and the inoculation of people aged under 18./.
