Top legislator extends Christmas greetings to Thanh Hoa’s Catholics

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan spoke highly of the active role and contributions of the Catholic community to the national building and development cause while visiting the Thanh Hoa diocese on December 21st on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Ngan informed Catholic dignitaries and followers in the central province of the country’s socio-economic achievements, notably the success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang city.

These achievements were the results of joint efforts of the ministries and sectors as well as the contributions of all people, including the Catholic community, she stressed.

Quoting the Holy Father’s saying “to be a good Christian is to be a good citizen”, the top legislator expressed her hope that Thanh Hoa’s Catholic dignitaries and followers will continue promoting the patriotic tradition and contribute more to the construction and development of the nation in general and the locality in particular.

Nguyen Chi Linh, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam and Archbishop of the Thanh Hoa Diocese, emphasised that over the past years, the State and National Assembly have exerted great efforts to improve the country’s policies to better meet religions’ aspirations.

On this occasion, NA Chairwoman Ngan extended her Christmas and New Year greetings to Catholic dignitaries and followers.

She also visited and presented gifts to several outstanding Catholic families in Thanh Hoa city./.
