(CPV) - In Hanoi, on January 30, the program of football for society was opened under the witness of Vietnam Football Federation (AFF) President Nguyen Trong Hy and Barcelona FC’s representative Marce Xavi.
The program aims to discover, train and upgrade football skills for Vietnamese children following Barcelona style, paving the way to set up Barcelona FC football for society school in the future.
“Apart from studying football skills, the trainees can play and exchange with participants from other courses in the country, as well as in Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Moreover, they will have the chance to meet Barcelona famous players and compete with teams from La Masia – Barcelona institute”, stressed Mr Nguyen Lan Trung, AFF Vice President and Director of the program.

Meanwhile, Mr Marce Xavi expressed his happiness as the team from Catalonia has re-connected with Vietnam in a very meaningful project. “The 1- week training course offers participants a chance to live and experience the FC Barcelona way for a week under the expert guidance of our coaches. Besides, it will provide trainees with a philosophy to apply to Vietnamese football”, he said.
Accordingly, the course will be deploy in Hanoi on June 2012. The school provides intensive training for the players three times a week. It caters specifically to players aged 6-14, prepares them for the rigours of professional football and is a major feeder school to the club's world class academy La Masia.
Thanks to the 40,000 USD support from An Vien Group, this free of charge project is expected to welcome around 300 Vietnamese kids within 2012.
The program may also lead to the discovery of talented players for Vietnam ’s football team.
