Museum on General Nguyen Chi Thanh opened in central Hue city

A museum dedicated to General Nguyen Chi Thanh, which was upgraded from the Genernal Memorial House, has been inaugurated in the central city of Hue to mark the 55th death anniversary of the General.

Covering 650 sq.m at 144 Dang Thai Than Street, the memorial house was constructed in 2011 in a traditional Hue architectural style.

Nearly 400 documents, objects and photos on the life and revolutionary career of General Thanh as well as his significant contributions to the revolutionary cause of the country and of Thua Thien Hue Province in particular are on display at the museum.

Many of the exhibits were introduced to the public for the first time, including articles and speeches by General Thanh, and documents from the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on the general.

Nguyen Chi Thanh (1914 – 1967), whose real name was Nguyen Vinh, was born on November 1, 1914, in Quang Tho Commune, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province. He took the post of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army in 1950 and was brevetted general in 1959.

During his 30-years in the revolutionary activities, he established himself as a talented leader with an undaunted fighting spirit and made remarkable contributions to the glorious victory of the Party’s revolution cause./.
