Unique over 100-year stilt house in Cao Bang

(CPV) - The northern mountainous Cao Bang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with Thach An district People's Committee to open a 9-room ancient stilt house tourist site in Tuc Nga hamlet, Duc Xuan commune, Thach An district, Cao Bang province.

The house was built in 1899 initially with three compartments, and expanded to nine compartments in 1934. With a yin-yang tiled roof, wooden walls, and 100 wooden pillars, the 400sq.m house is imbued in cultural characteristics of the Tay ethnic minority group.
With an area of 400m2, the house frame includes more than 100 wooden columns, including 40 main columns 9m high. The roof is covered with traditional yin and yang tiles.
There are no partitions between the rooms in the stilt house, creating a large living space in the house. The upper floor is still the family's living space, below is the place for agricultural production tools.

At the opening ceremony, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Cao Bang province said that the unit is coordinating and continuing to build additional services to take tourists to experience the black jelly making model; Foot bathing and medicinal bathing services of ethnic minorities. This aims to turn Tuc Nga hamlet and the 9-room ancient stilt house in particular into a community tourism destination, attracting a large number of tourists./.
