Addressing the meeting, Le Thi Ai Nam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Bac Lieu provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council, gave a brief introduction about the province’s socio-economic development situation.

Accordingly, its average economic growth reaches 6.5% per year, and the figure is estimated at 8.36% in 2018. The industrial and service proportion is increasing in the province’s economic structure, with average income per capita of over VND42 million per year, rapid poverty reduction to the current 4.3%, remarkably improved living standards, and reinforced security.

According to Ms Nam, in 2018, the province successfully organised the investment promotion conference in which it licensed 17 projects worth over VND100 trillion. “Many projects have been inaugurated, contributing to increasing the province’s budget,” she said, adding that the province will continue to develop five pillars boosting socio-economic development, including agriculture; alternative energy; tourism; trade, service, healthcare and education; and sea economy.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Tran Doan Tien, CPV Online Newspaper Editor-in-Chief, said that the newspaper interface has been changed, stressing its purpose of being the voice of the Party, State and Vietnamese people on the Internet. “The modern interface, which integrates multimedia factors on all of its 7 publications (the Vietnamese, Chinese, English and French pages, television, President Ho Chi Minh page and the archive system), has helped attract more readers,” he said.

He also praised the important contributors by collaborators in disseminating information to readers, especially in Party building at the grassroots level, the implementation of the Party resolutions, the studying and following of Uncle Ho’s example, local socio-economic development, and prevention of natural disasters.

During the meeting, the newspaper’s leaders presented insignias to individuals who had made great contributions to its development; and certificates of merit to 9 collaborators who had excellent news and articles posted on the newspaper in 2018./.
