The exhibition displays 80 colour and black and white photos, highlighting the significance of the event 65 years ago, in an atmosphere of great excitement after the victory of the August Revolution in 1945. At that time, Vietnam was in a dangerous situation with hostile forces both inside and outside. However, under the clever leadership of the Communist Party, led by President Ho Chi Minh, the people of the country successfully conducted the first general election to elect the 1st National Assembly deputies on January 6, 1946.

For the first time in the history of Vietnam, Vietnamese people, from the status of a colonial nation, rose up to take control of their own destiny, to establish the first worker and peasant democratic state in Southeast Asia.

This historic event marked a great turning point in the cause of the nation's struggle for independence and freedom, bringing Vietnam into a new era: the nation of the people, by the people, for the people, having the Constitution and the National Assembly directly elected by the people.

The exhibition also reflects glorious activities of the National Assembly over the past 14 terms. Over the past 75 years, thoroughly grasping and properly applying the Party's guidelines and policies, promoting the strength of great solidarity and wisdom of the entire nation, expressing the will and aspirations of all classes of people, the National Assembly has done well its responsibilities, making important contributions to building a rich, strong country, a democratic, just and civilized society.

The photo exhibition takes place until January 15./.
