100 enterprises to join Vietnam International Agriculture Fair in Can Tho

As many as 100 enterprises from both across the country and abroad will promote their products in 250 booths at the upcoming 2022 Vietnam International Agriculture Fair (AgroViet 2022), which will run from November 2 to November 6 in the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho, reported the Voice of Vietnam.
Vietnam International Agriculture Fair is set to kick off in Can Tho City on November 2. 

According to the organising board, the fair will therefore showcase a range of high-tech agricultural products, machinery, agricultural equipment, modern agricultural product processing lines, processing and preserving agricultural products, agricultural materials, fertilisers, and pesticides.

Furthermore, several trade promotion programmes will also be held within the framework of the event.

Moreover, the opening ceremony of the event will also witness the launching of product traceability management system in Can Tho.

The purpose of the annual fair is to intensify agricultural trade promotion activities as a means of bolstering co-operation, seeking fresh markets and partners, exchanging experience, and promoting brand products. This is in addition to increasing the general competitiveness in Vietnamese agricultural products and attracting investments in agriculture.

449 new COVID-19 cases recorded on November 1

The national COVID-19 caseload rose to 11,503,334 with 449 new cases recorded on November 1, according to the Ministry of Health, reported Vietnam News Agency.

With 386 patients given the all clear during the day, the number of recoveries rose to 10,603,598.

Meanwhile, there are 62 patients needing breathing support.

One death from COVID-19 was recorded in the past 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 43,164.

As of the end of October 31, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccines injected was 261,957,574 with 84,563 doses administered on October 31.

Vietnam - US Trade Forum 2022 to get underway in mid-November

The Vietnam – United States Trade Forum 2022 will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 17 to help further promote trade and investment ties between the two countries, reported the Voice of Vietnam.

The event will be co-organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Amcham Hanoi), the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), and the Oregon State government.

Leading experts from Vietnam and the US are expected to update participants on trade and investment policies of both countries amid a period of global supply chains shifting trends, post-COVID-19 economic recovery, and the future development of digital trade and services.

Experts will also seek ways to boost connectivity and engagement of Vietnamese businesses in the global supply chain, help them devise effective, long-term business plans and create further investment co-operation opportunities.

According to the latest data compiled by the General Statistics Office, the US remains Vietnam’s largest export market, with an estimated export turnover reaching US$93.4 billion, and imports from the market hitting about US$13 billion over the past 10 months.

Last year saw bilateral trade hit US$111.56 billion, representing an increase of nearly US$21 billion compared to 2020 and making the US Vietnam’s second trading partner, after China, with two-way trade exceeding the US$100 billion mark. 

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Planning and Investment reports that the US investment in Vietnam has reached US$11 billion, with several leading US corporations such as P&G, Coca Cola, Apple, Google, and Intel injecting their money into the country despite COVID-19 challenges.
