Blockchain Global Day 2022 to feature 100 booths

Blockchain Global Day 2022 will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on July 29, with the theme of “Into the Infinity Con-verse”, organisers said on July 7, reported Vietnam News Agency.

This is the first event in a series of the annual blockchain exhibitions intended to maximise conditions to facilitate the development of the industry in Vietnam.

It will be co-organised by the Saigon Innovation Hub (Sihub) under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, Spac3Ship -  a blockchain-focused investment firm, and partners like Infinity Ventures Crypto and YGG SEA Vietnam.

Organisers said ample room remains for Vietnam’s blockchain, citing its application by major domestic businesses and banks like FPT Software, Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel), the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), among others.

According to TechSci Research, a research based management consulting firm, Vietnam blockchain market is anticipated to grow at a double-digit compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for 2023-2027.

The growing digitalisation in all the prominent industry verticals is fostering the demand for the Vietnam blockchain market in the next five years, it said.

Huynh Kim Tuoc, Sihub Managing Director, said Blockchain Global Day 2022 will feature 100 booths introducing blockchain projects and two seminars on the integration of blockchain into global technological trends like Web3, Metaverse and NFT.

The event is expected to bring together representatives from prestigious projects and experts in this field in Southeast Asia such as Binance, YGG SEA, Coin98, Vina Capital Ventures and Coinex.

Vietnamese cities listed among Top destinations in Southeast Asia

 Travel+Leisure has announced the Asia’s Best Awards 2022

Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City are three representatives of Vietnam listed among the catergory of 10 best cities in Southeast Asia by the US’s famous travel magazine Travel+Leisure.

The Southeast Asia edition of Travel+Leisure has announced Asia’s Best Awards 2022 to help travelers worldwide make the best choices in terms of destinations, resorts, and accommodation, and tourism services, especially as the borders have reopened.

Among the best 10 best cities in Southeast Asia, Da Nang ranked 3rd, Hanoi ranked 5th and Ho Chi Minh City ranked 8th.

In this category, Bangkok, the capital of Thailand won first place and the capital of Indonesia (Jakarta) ranked 10th.

Other cities making the list include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Hong Kong (China), and Phnom Penh (Cambodia).

Besides 3 vibrant cities, two beautiful islands of Vietnam, Phu Quoc and Con Dao, also appear in the list of the best islands in Southeast Asia. In which, Phu Quoc ranked 4th and Con Dao ranked 10th.

Other famous tourist islands appearing in this list are Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi (Thailand); Langkawi, Penang (Malaysia); Lombok, Bali (Indonesia); and Palawan (the Philippines).

Shrimp exports to EU market grow sharply

As of June 15, 2022, shrimp exports to the EU market reached 338 million USD, up 51% over the same period last year.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam’s shrimp exports to the EU grew quite steadily, ranging from 34% to 83% in the first months of this year.

In the first 5 months of 2022, Vietnam’s shrimp exports to the market reached 304 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 51%. The value hit a record high compared to the same period in previous years.

EU countries increased their imports of vannamei shrimp by 46%, valued at 236 million USD. Black tiger shrimp imported from Vietnam skyrocketed 75%,  worth 50 million USD. The top 3 markets in the bloc, including the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, all witnessed increases from 58% to 91% of Vietnam's shrimp imports in the first 5 months of 2022.

Besides favorable factors, Vietnam's shrimp exports to the EU in the coming months are forecast to be affected by inflation, and depreciation of the EUR against the USD. The economies of EU countries are also dealing with the crisis from the Russia-Ukraine war, the high cost of petrol and the price of goods.

The EU’s shrimp import demand in the coming months is expected to decrease and then increase again in the last months of the year.

Indochina Capital to pour 1 billion USD in industrial real estate in Vietnam

Indochina Kajima Development Company, a joint venture from Indochina Capital and Kajima Corporation, has recently launched Core5 Vietnam (www.c5ip.vn), reported Vietnam News Agency.

This is an industrial real estate investment and development platform focused on the nationwide roll out of world class factory and warehouse properties for lease throughout the country’s key manufacturing and logistics markets.

Speaking at the launching ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on July 6, Peter Ryder, Indochina Capital’s CEO, said his company has been operating in Vietnam for over two decades.

Core5 Vietnam plans to roll out a collection of exceptional industrial assets across Vietnam’s key manufacturing markets, with investment of some 1 billion USD over the next 5-7 years, he said.

It offers various solutions such as ready-built factory for lease, ready-built warehouse for lease and build-to-suit industrial properties.

Its key services include development and construction consultation from project managers, facility management advice from operation professionals, and licensing support to ensure timely business setup so manufacturing activities or logistics companies can launch their businesses quickly.

The firm’s current portfolio covers 90ha of land with seven projects in the north and another in the south.

Keisuke Koshijima, representative director and executive vice president of Kajima Corporation, said the established manufacturing industry combined with the rapidly growing e-commerce sector create favorable market conditions for the expansion of the Core5 brand into Vietnam.

He said the country’s manufacturing and logistics sector is burgeoning given the supply chain shift from China which has led to several prominent manufacturers relocating to Vietnam./.
