Country honors 283 national brands

As many as 283 brands managed by 124 enterprises were honoured as Vietnam National Brands 2020 at a ceremony held in Hanoi on November 25.

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said that the Vietnam National Brand program is a specific, long-term and unique trade promotion program of the Government aiming to build and develop the national brand through product branding.

The participation in the programme is a process for enterprises to comprehensively evaluate their activities, business results and brand building strategies through criteria of the programme.

Several brands such as VnPay, Mobifone, Cholimex, Richy and Nam Ha Pharmacy won the title for the first time, while many brands have continued to hold their titles for years including Agribank, BIDV, May 10 Corporation, Saigon Tourist and others.

Nine months after the launch of the programme in 2020, 124 out of 1,000 registered enterprises were selected to be honoured with Vietnam National Brand this year, an increase of 27 enterprises over last year.

China remains largest exporter of Vietnamese tra fish

Over the past 11 months, China continues to occupy the largest exports of Vietnamese tra fish, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), reported Nhan Dan News.

Initial statistics from VASEP showed that Vietnam’s total revenue from tra fish exports to mainland China and Hong Kong (China) reached USD385.9 million in the first 11 months of this year, accounting for 34.4% of Vietnam’s total revenue from tra fish exports.

The 11-month export revenue of tra fish to China decreased by 20.6% over the same period last year mainly due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of tra fish processing and exporting enterprises to China also accounts for the largest number of tra fish enterprises.

Vietnam exports a diverse range of tra fish products to the Chinese market including frozen fillet, frozen tra fish stomach, fried/dried fish bladder, frozen whole tra fish, frozen tra fish belly, among others.

VASEP said that since the end of the third quarter of 2020, the import of Vietnamese tra fish from some major markets has seen positive signals, helping to increase prices of raw tra fish materials.

Vietnam’s organic agricultural production area reached nearly 240,000 hectares, an increase of 5 fold compared to 2016. Currently, 46 out of 63 provinces and cities are carrying out the organic production movement.

The National Agricultural Extension Center in association with Que Lam Group has organized a forum to promote the development of organic agricultural production. The event was attended by more than 100 delegates being leaders of the agricultural sector of some provinces and cities, experts, scientists and farmers.

Vietnam’s organic agricultural products appeared in 180 countries and territories in the world and the products penetrated in to the most difficult markets such as the US, Japan, the UK and the Republic of Korea.

The National Agricultural Extension Center has promoted organic agricultural production through agricultural extension activities like building demonstration models. However, organic agricultural production now still face many difficulties as a part of farmers are not interested in this type, the scale is still rag and the value is not yet sustainable.

In the near future, the center will associate with units to build intensive farming models, strengthen international training and cooperation, and provide information for people to better understand their roles of organic agriculture./.
