A photo depicting a Vietnamese building that is distinguishable by all of its windows being covered with the national flag has been granted first place in the World in Lockdown category of the Aerial Photography Awards 2020.

Windows of a residential apartment in Hanoi are covered with the Vietnamese national flag in support of the fight against COVID-19.

The photo was snapped by Indian photographer Prabu Mohan, who is currently living in Hanoi, reported VOV.

Mohan says that he was able to capture the photo at a residential apartment close to his home in the capital.

The residents hang their Vietnamese national flags in support of those who are fighting on the front line against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), says Mohan.

Recognition through the Aerial Photography Awards 2020 comes following the image also winning prize A as part of the “Impressive Vietnam amid COVID-19 fears” photo contest. The competition has recently held in  by the Ministry of Health and the Institute for Research on Development Communication (RED).

Powerful Typhoon Molave moves towards Vietnam

After hitting the Philippines on October 26, Typhoon Molave is on course to move towards Vietnam and is expected to make landfall in two days.

Typhoon Molave, the ninth storm to hit the East Sea this year, at 08:00 a.m. on October 26 was passing through the northeastern part of Song Tu Tay island belonging to the Truong Sa archipelago, with winds reaching maximum speeds of 135 kph.

Over the course of the next 24 hours the typhoon is expected to move west with winds up to 150 kph near its eye. Molave is forecast to sustain its strength and batter Vietnam’s central coast on October 28 before weakening into a tropical low depression.

Typhoon Molave had originally struck the Philippines early on October 26, forcing approximately 25,000 people in the Bicol region to flee their homes amid the prospect of landslides and flash floods occurring.

In response, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired an urgent online meeting on

October 26 to devise plans to mitigate the impact of the storm.

Schedules of flights to central Vietnam adjusted due to Storm Molave

Vietjet has adjusted the schedule of flights from and to the  typhoon affected airports in central Vietnam.

Accordingly, flights between Hanoi and Da Nang city on October 27 have been canceled. Meanwhile, those between HCM City and Dong Hoi city in Quang Binh province and Hue city in Thua Thien-Hue province have been rescheduled.

Passengers on the affected flights will be supported according to the carrier policy. Some other flights on the day might also be affected.

Vietjet has informed all affected passengers at airports as well as approached the passengers through other communication channels, via phone calls and SMSs.

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said it has adjusted schedules of flights to and from Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Tuy Hoa, Gia Lai, Buon Me Thuot, Quy Nhon, Da Lat and Khanh Hoa on October 27.

It suggested passengers stay updated on weather conditions as well as flight information.

Meanwhile, Bamboo Airways said it has cancelled Flight QH17 from HCM City to Da Nang, and suspend all of the flights to the central city as from 7pm on October 27 until further notice.

Many flights to and from Da Nang have also been rescheduled by the carrier./.
