Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Bach Diep graduated from the faculty of business administration of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, and started working for FPT in 1997.

Forbes said that since joining FPT Retail 8 years ago and becoming the Chairwoman in 2017, Ms. Nguyen Bach Diep has contributed to building the company into the second largest technology retailer in Vietnam, with more than 630 stores nationwide. In 2017, Ms. Diep added to the pharmaceutical retail sector with the acquisition of a majority stake of Long Chau pharmacy chain and expanded from 4 stores to about 160 stores. To meet the increasing demand for pharmaceutical products during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, FPT Retail plans to open an additional 60 pharmaceutical stores this year.

Last year, Vietnam had two businesswomen on this list, namely Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, CEO of Vietjet, and Ms. Tran Thi Le, CEO of NutiFood.

Forbes Asia magazine started to publish a list of the 50 excellent leaders in Asia in 2012. Since then, the list has changed names and criteria. In 2013, it was renamed “Women In the Mix”; “Emergent 25” in 2018; and “Asia's Power Businesswomen” in 2019.
