Vietnam's grilled bananas among best desserts worldwide

US-based multinational news channel CNN has put Vietnam’s grilled bananas on its list of best desserts in the world, calling it a “must-try”, reported Vietnam News Agency.

It described the sweet course as crispy, smoky and fragrant, and best enjoyed with a lightly sweetened creamy coconut milk and roasted peanuts.

Grilled banana is a famous snack from the Mekong Delta that can be found in many parts of Vietnam’s southern region. The peeled banana is marinated with a little sugar and salt for 30 minutes. It is then covered in glutenous rice cooked in coconut milk, wrapped in banana leave and then grilled.

Culinary Journeys, a food programme that airs monthly on CNN International, compiled the list. It aims to introduce viewers to the best dishes in the world. They can also promote their own dishes by uploading images to Instagram at the hashtag #CNNfood, and CNN’s culinary experts then choose dishes to showcase on the programme.

Other notable desserts in the list included blonde brownies from Qatar, Kenyan cheesecake and Sandesh in India, among others.

Vietnam Airlines to increase Vietnam-India flights by 30%

Vietnam Airlines will operate one flight per day between Vietnam and India from March 26, raising the number of its flights between the two countries by 30% compared to the present, reported Vietnam News Agency.

In particular, the national flag carrier will operate four flights per week on the Hanoi - New Delhi route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and three flights per week on the Ho Chi Minh City - New Delhi route on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The flight increase aims to meet the growing demand in bilateral passenger and cargo transportation.

On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines offers tickets at preferential prices for direct flights between Vietnam and India. Accordingly, a round-trip ticket are priced at a minimum of 7,113,000 VND (about 302 USD), including taxes and fees, when being bought via the firm’s website, mobile app, and ticket offices or agents in Vietnam; and a minimum of 23,950 INR (292 USD) when being bought via its ticket offices and agents in India.

The prices are applied for tickets purchased from now to December 31, 2023 for flights departing between March 26 and December 31, 2023.

In recent years, India has become one of the leading trading partners with close and extensive relations with Vietnam, especially in tourism. It is one of the 10 countries with the biggest search volume for tourism in Vietnam.

Vietnam Airlines officially launched the direct air route between Vietnam and India in June 2022. In the time ahead, it is set to open a new route to Mumbai, one of the largest economic, cultural, and social centres of the South Asian nation.

Vietnam’s bobsled team wins medal at Asian Championships

Tran Thi Doan Trang bagged a bronze medal for Vietnam in the women’s monobob event at the Asian Championships held by the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) in PyeongChang, the Republic of Korea (RoK) on March 12, reported Vietnam News Agency.

Nguyen Van Khanh came forth in the women’s skeleton event with a two-run total of 1 minute and 54.38 seconds.

Meanwhile, in two-man bobsleigh event, The Vietnamese team ranked forth with a two-run total of 1 minute and 47.7 seconds.

Vietnam’s bobsled team left the country for training at the Olympic Pyeongchang Complex in the RoK in late 2020 for the Winter Olympics dream.

The training “New Horizon Sliding Champions” programme developed by the PyeongChang 2018 aims at helping athletes from non-winter sports countries to develop skills and train in sliding sports in order to secure a place at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The team consists of six individuals and athletes who have achieved outstanding results in several sports.

RoK investors inject US$81.3 billion into Vietnamese market

The Republic of Korea (RoK) took the lead among 142 countries and territories investing in the nation with a total registered capital reaching US$81.3 billion, reported the Voice of Vietnam based on figures released by the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Singapore ranked second in terms of investment with nearly US$72.1 billion, accounting for 16.3% of total investment capital, followed by Japan, Taiwan (China), and Hong Kong (China).

The opening two months of the year witnessed the RoK inject about US$418.83 million into the country through a total of 26 new projects.

The majority of this investment was poured into the fields of processing and manufacturing, real estate, and construction.

Vietnamese localities and cities which received the most investment capital from the RoK include Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Dong Nai, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City. and Ho Chi Minh.

According to the analysis of experts, the country’s current favourable investment climate has attracted a large number of Korean businesses, which have significantly contributed to accelerating Vietnamese economic development over the past time.

The RoK Government plans to continue co-operating with the Vietnamese Government moving forward as a means of helping Korean businesses to expand their investment in the nation, especially in the spheres of eco-friendly infrastructure construction, clean energy development, finance, agriculture, digital technologies, health and culture./.
