The Cosco Shipping Aquarius, operated by OOCL (Orient Overseas Container Line) connecting Vietnam with the North American market, docked at Cai Mep International Port on September 7-8, handling nearly 2,500 containers, equivalent to 4,500 TEUs.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky, General Director of CMIT said that in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting Vietnamese businesses, the terminal continuing to receive the trust of important customers such as OOCL is a great motivation for its officers and employees.

Earlier, on October 25, 2020, CMIT successfully received the Margrethe Maersk (Danish nationality). The ship is nearly 400 m long, 59 m wide and has a tonnage of 214,121 tons, with a capacity of up to 18,340 TEUs. This is one of the largest container ships in the world, with a length of nearly 4 football fields.

CMIT is among the largest terminals in the Cai Mep deep water port area and is the only port in Vietnam licensed by the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration to receive giant container ships up to 214,000 tons./.
