The permission was set in a decision signed on March 15 approving the general planning project of Da Nang until 2030, with a vision to 2045. On March 25, the Prime Minister decided to approve the investment policy on constructing Lien Chieu Port – the shared infrastructure part. These policies are expected to bring Da Nang to new heights.
During the past 3 years, Da Nang city has persistently built and submitted to the authorities Lien Chieu Port project, with an aim to build infrastructure for sharing Lien Chieu Port to create a seaport development base in Lien Chieu area - Da Nang city.
In the first phase, it is expected to help raise the through volume of goods up to 5 million tons per year and reduce the load on the Tien Sa and Son Tra wharf areas, and reduce the pressure of road traffic going through the inner city in the next phase. It will also help strengthen regional and inter-regional connections, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of Da Nang City and of the region. Using VND3.4 trillion, when completed, it can receive vessels of up to 100,000 tons.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, assessed that the decision to turn Tien Sa into a tourist port and build Lien Chieu port into a cargo port is correct. “This is an important project, a driving force project, not only for Da Nang but also for the whole region,” he said.
Resolution 43 of the Politburo on building and developing Da Nang to 2030, with vision to 2045, defines to build Da Nang City into the socio-economic center of the country and Southeast Asia, with the role of a hub for start-up, innovation, tourism, commerce and finance. Along with Lien Chieu Port and Software Park No. 2, the high-tech park is being constructed urgently, while the financial center is expected to develop Da Nang into a major economic center in Southeast Asia.
Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, said that the decision on the policy of building Lien Chieu port as well as the policy of allowing the construction of the financial center project is of great significance, creating an important foundation for Da Nang to continue to play a driving role, leading the key economic region in Central Vietnam; and making greater contribution to socio-economic development as set the target of Resolution 43 of the Politburo."
The city is now ready for implementation of the policy. It will also strengthen the quality of land management and develop urban construction in accordance with the spirit of the general planning approved by the Prime Minister./.
