Fruit-vegetable export value surpasses USD2.1 billion

Fruit-vegetable exports in 11 months of 2016 earned USD2.178 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

The MARD said the value for November alone was USD186 million.

China is the largest market for Vietnamese vegetables and fruits, accounting for 70.4 percent, followed by the Republic of Korea with 3.6 percent, the US 3.4 percent, and Japan 3.1 percent.

In the period, Vietnam spent USD814 million on imported vegetables and fruits, up 44 percent against the same period last year.

Thailand is the largest exporter of fruit to Vietnam, making up 44 percent of the country’s total import of the products, followed by China with 23 percent./.
