Ministry of Industry and Trade works with Lao Ambassador to Vietnam

(CPV) – Ministry of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien stressed the importance of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos while affirming that Vietnam always considers Lao friends and officers of the Embassy of Laos in Vietnam as comrades and extremely close friends.
On April 26, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien received and worked with Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang in order to exchange and agree on measures of bilateral cooperation in the field of commerce, industry and energy.

The two sides consider the important contents as contributing to the meaning and results of high-level meetings between the leaders of the Communist Party and State of Vietnam and the General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Thongloun Sisoulith, who is about to visit Vietnam.
Regarding the complicated situation of COVID-19 epidemic in Laos in recent days, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien expressed his wish to ease the difficulties of the Lao people, sharing worries with the Ambassador, but also expressed the belief that the epidemic would soon be controlled with firm measures of the Government of Laos.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is always ready to assist and help the Lao side prevent the epidemic.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade presented the Laos Embassy in Vietnam some antibacterial cloth masks to send to relatives in Laos and donated a number of medical masks to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Laos.
At the event, Ambassador Sengphet Houngboungnuang and Minister Nguyen Hong Dien signed a Memorandum of Understanding on measures to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, industry and energy.
In the first quarter of 2021, export and import turnover between Vietnam and Lao totaled 338.6 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 22.5%./.
