Southern city calls upon investment in startup projects

Ho Chi Minh City saw over 25 billion VND invested in 40 startup projects during 5 years, from 2016 to 2020, said the city Department of Science and Technology.

Through a program of supporting innovative startups, many projects successfully called upon capital with price valuation increase from 1.5 to 1.8 fold after receiving support.

More than 2,500 projects were assisted to complete ideas, products, market, and financial connection. Over 200 international organizations from the US, New Zealand, Canada, England, Germany, Sweden, the Republic of Korea and Finland accompanied the city to support universities, institutes and incubators in innovation activities and technology transfer.

Currently, the southern city has formed a space model for innovation and start-ups (Saigon Innovation Hub), and kicked off the construction of a building of the Innovation and Startups Center covering nearly 17,000 square meters; marking the participation of the State in innovation activities.

In the future, the model of the Institute of Advanced Technology and Innovation will be formed with the hope of strengthening innovation activities and linking units in the ecosystem.

During the next five years, together with continuing to support small and medium-sized enterprises to improve productivity, quality and innovation, the city will focus on boosting the activity of industrial parks./.
