Currently, Vietnam mainly exports fresh or frozen whole sugpo prawn to the Spanish market, with the average export price of about 11 USD per kg.

Besides, white-leg shrimp exports to the market also increased strongly, worth nearly 2.9 million USD, representing an increase of 54% in the nine months.

Clam export to Spain also soared by 38% in the nine months, valued at nearly 18 million USD. Clams are currently the top seafood product export from Vietnam to Spain, accounting for 34% of the total export value to the market.

By the end of September 2021, Vietnam’s seafood exports to Spain totaled 52.3 million USD, a year-on-year rise of 15.4%. In terms of single market, Spain ranks 22nd among the seafood import markets of Vietnam, accounting for 1% of export turnover in the first 9 months of the year.

From now to the end of the year, Spain is forecast to continue to be the bright spot of Vietnam’s seafood exports, thanks to the increasing demand for shrimp, clams, and tuna for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

VASEP forecasts that seafood exports to Spain in the fourth quarter of 2021 will increase by 13% to about 21 million USD, bringing the export result in 2021 to 73 million USD, up 15% against 2020./.
