The event “Machinery Made in Italy” was co-organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICHAM) in Vietnam and 11 other ICHAMs in Asia. Vietnamese businesses took it as an occasion to approach and work with Italian partners to provide comprehensive solutions for the modern food processing industry.

In his speech at the event, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonion Alessandro said that the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership developed significantly with remarkable results in many fields, in which economic cooperation is most prominent.

He stressed that one of the strengths of Italy’s exports is machinery and technology. Thus, the country will offer many supporting tools to contribute to raising the quality of Vietnamese products as they enter high-standard markets in the world.

In addition, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) is expected to open opportunities for businesses of the two sides, including opportunities for small and medium enterprises of Italy.

On the basis of these factors, he said the Italian government would speed up trade promotion and investment in Vietnam, especially the field of agricultural products and food processing, in order to help Vietnam become a strategic “gateway” in Asia for Italian businesses.

In 2018, the export of agricultural products of Vietnam hit a record of USD40.02 billion. This was also the year with the highest growth rate in the past seven years and this attracted many big foreign companies to invest in agriculture in Vietnam./.
