Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, said that since the term 2021-2022, the UN has trusted and invited Vietnam to deploy two more working positions at the MINUSCA Mission, an intelligence officer and a communications officer.

"The communications officers are exclusively for women, meeting the policy of gender equality and increasing the number of female soldiers participating in UN peacekeeping operations," said Major General Phung. To date, Vietnam has sent 41 female soldiers to the UN peacekeeping mission, accounting for nearly 16%, much higher than the average rate of women in missions of other countries.

In addition to the two positions, six other officers will be assigned to the MINUSCA Mission. Among which, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thanh Van, Commander of the Force, Head of the MINUSCA Mission Task Force, is expected to depart at the end of December with the position of operational staff officer.

Four people will leave at the end of November, including Major Nguyen Huy Hung, intelligence staff officer; Major Do Anh, military observer; Captain Le Vinh Hoang, intelligence staff officer; and Lieutenant Do Huyen Trang, training staff officer.

Captain Nguyen Thanh Trung will be on his way to take up the duties of an armed consultancy officer at the end of December.

Four officers received assignments to the UMISS mission. Three are expected to leave at the end of November, including Lieutenant Colonel Pham Tan Phong, Commander of the Force, Head of the UNMISS Mission Working Group, performing the task of military observer; Major Vu The Anh, combat staff officer; and Captain Vu Hong Hung, military observer.
