An Giang increases cooperation and support for Cambodian localities’ fight against COVID-19

Vietnam’s southern province of An Giang has nearly 100 kilometers of border line, 2 international border gates, 2 national border gates, and many auxiliary border gates and open pathways with Cambodia. To deal with the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, An Giang province and Cambodian localities have strengthened their coordination on pandemic control.

In addition, An Giang province also promoted activities to support and share difficulties in the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic with Cambodian localities.

On October 2, An Giang province’s Tri Ton district and the district armed forces held a visit and gave gifts to support the armed forces in Kirivong district, Cambodia’s Ta Keo province.

Speaking at the gift giving ceremony, Mr. Cao Quang Liem, Secretary of the Tri Ton district Party Committee and Chairman of the district People's Committee, sent his encouragement to the Cambodian armed forces on duty, wishing for a reinforcement in friendly cooperative relationship in fighting COVID-19. 

Accordingly, the two sides continue to well manage trails and openings to prevent illegal immigration, smuggling, and crime. Leader of Tri Ton district also expressed his hope that authorities and forces from both sides would regularly exchange information and cooperate on both preventing the pandemic and boosting socio-economic development.

Earlier, on May 12, at the border gates of Tinh Bien and An Phu in An Giang province, the Vietnam Fatherland Front in An Giang province presented medical supplies for COVID-19 prevention to Takeo and Kandal provinces. The medical supplies included thermometers, hand sanitizer and masks, worth VND200 million./.
