His statement was made while being received by Standing Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee Dang Quoc Vinh on May 20th.

According to Mr. Vinh, Ha Tinh province has attracted and wisely used non-Governmental assistance aid worth over USD882,000 from Australia in healthcare, poverty reduction, social welfare, clean water and environment, contributing to improving residents’ living conditions and promoting local socio-economic development.

In the economic sector, Ha Tinh has attracted a project from an Australian investor, the Lobana Trading Company, who was licensed to carry out a center of trade, hotel, office and apartment building in Ky Anh district, using a capital of USD57.5 million.

Expressing his thanks to the Australian Ambassador and Government for supporting Ha Tinh province with effective programs and projects, Mr. Vinh also hoped to receive continued assistance from Australia in social welfare, healthcare and education.

Showing his deep thanks to Ha Tinh province’s leader for the warm reception, Ambassador Craig Chittick said that since the two countries’ established diplomatic relations in 1973, Vietnam and Australia had developed firm and practical ties with mutual respect for common benefit.

He also shared with Ha Tinh province’s difficulties from climate change and war consequences, and committed to call on the Australian Government, as well as non-Governmental organizations and businesses, to help Ha Tinh province in social welfare, healthcare, education and economic development.

During the visit, the Australian Ambassador and delegation visited the Aquaphonic ecological agricultural project sponsored by the Australian Embassy for Ha Tinh provincial orphans’ village, which contributed to increase the quality of daily meals for the orphans and disabled children, develop green and beautiful scenery, and create for them a useful playground and environment./.
